Netflix is developing a new documentary about Daejon Love, a man accused of posing as a San Francisco 49ers player to defraud women of more than $1 million.

According to Netflix’s Tudum, the upcoming film, titled Untold: Wide Deceiver, will tell the story through firsthand accounts from Love’s alleged victims.

On Wednesday (October 14), federal prosecutors in Oregon announced that Love had been indicted on one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

According to the Department of Justice, Love pleaded not guilty and was ordered to remain in custody pending trial, which is scheduled to begin December 15.

A criminal complaint filed in August accused Love, 35, and his alleged associate, Taylor Chan, 18, of soliciting money from women for fictitious investments.

According to the DOJ, Love met many of the women through dating apps and allegedly convinced them they were in romantic relationships with him.

He presented himself as a wealthy real estate investor or an NFL player, while Chan allegedly posed as his financial adviser to make the investment opportunities appear legitimate.

Prosecutors allege the pair used fake investment accounts and promised substantial returns to persuade women to send money.

Financial records cited by the DOJ show they received approximately $1.3 million from investors, and investigators initially identified 26 alleged victims.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported on September 18 that 35 additional women had come forward alleging they were defrauded by Love and Chan.

The FBI was working to verify their claims, which could bring the total number of potential victims to 61.

Netflix has not announced a premiere date.
