Actress, comedian, and talk show host Sherri Shepherd has been honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

On Monday (November 3), Shepherd received her star in the Television category during a ceremony on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles, celebrating her over three-decade career in entertainment.

Radio personality Ellen K emceed the event as Tyler Perry, Niecy Nash, and Debmar-Mercury Co-President Ira Bernstein delivered tributes. The ceremony was organized by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which oversees the iconic Walk of Fame.

“The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is proud to welcome actress Sherri Shepherd to the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez said in a statement. “Sherri is a beloved figure whose humor, authenticity, and resilience have brightened the lives of millions.”

In a statement, Shepherd, dressed in a custom purple gown as she received the honor, reflected on her journey in Hollywood.

“I’m always thanking God, and knowing my why,” Shepherd said. “God didn’t give me this talent for it to just fall on the ground and die. It took 30 years for me to realize it, because I wasn’t ready.”

Shepherd has had a long career in television, film, stand-up comedy, Broadway, and publishing. Her television credits include 30 Rock, The Jamie Foxx Show, Mr. Iglesias, Harlem, Trial & Error, and Friends. On film, Shepherd has appeared in Precious, Think Like a Man, Ride Along 2, and Beauty Shop. Shepherd also made Broadway history as the first Black actress to play the evil stepmother in "Cinderella" and currently tours with Kym Whitley in their comedy show "Two Funny Mamas."

During Monday's ceremony, Shepherd thanked her family, friends, and longtime supporters, and encouraged others to pursue their dreams.

“Hold on,” she said. “When you overcome fear, you open yourself up to everything God meant for you to have.”
