A$AP Rocky has officially joined his longtime partner, Rihanna, in fashion’s hall of fame.
On Monday (November 3), the rapper and style visionary received the Fashion Icon Award at the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Awards, per the Associated Press. Rihanna won the same honor in 2014, making her and A$AP one of the only couples to ever share the title.
Monday's event, held at New York’s American Museum of Natural History, celebrated Rocky’s decade-long influence on the intersection of music and fashion. Rockey appeared on the CFDA carpet dressed in Chanel, alongside Rihanna, who stunned in Alaïa.
Anna Wintour, chief content officer of Condé Nast, presented Rocky with the award, welcoming him into the CFDA family.
“He’s joining us here tonight two months after the birth of his third child named Rocki,” Wintour said. “Seeing A$AP Rocky, the devoted father makes it clear how much family means to him — and now we are all welcoming him into ours.”
During his acceptance speech, A$AP reflected on his journey and thanked the people who stood by him through the ups and downs.
“Thank you for holding me down, especially when the going gets rough, and you go through trials and tribulations,” he said, before turning his attention to Rihanna in the audience. “And look, we did it, baby.”
The honor comes on the heels of Rocky becoming the creative director for Ray-Ban, co-chairing the Met Gala, and debuting his second AWGE runway show.
