A new lawsuit accuses Judge Mathis of threatening to shoot a Los Angeles city worker over a truck that was blocking his driveway.

In court documents obtained by TMZ, Ricardo Acosta, a worker with the L.A. Department of Water and Power, alleged that he was working outside of Mathis' home in July 2023 when the TV judge threatened him.

Acosta said Mathis attempted to pull his car out of his garage before getting out of his car and yelling "Move the f***** truck out of the way."

At one point during the encounter, Acosta alleged that Mathis was standing behind his dump truck, prompting the city worker to advise the TV personality to move out of concern that the truck would roll backward and injure him.

Mathis allegedly told Acosta that he "did not give a f*** and to run him over and see what happens to him." Acosta claimed that Mathis went inside his home and returned with a gun, saying he had something for him.

"I will bust a cap ... you wanna f*** with me," Mathis allegedly said as he brandished the firearm.

According to Acosta, Mathis threatened him again, before getting in his car and driving off.

Acosta is reportedly suing Mathis for assault and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Judge Mathis' attorney, Anahita Sedaghatfar, released the following statement in the wake of the allegations.

"This unfiled complaint that has been conveniently publicly circulated is a last ditch attempt by Mr. Acosta to extort my client Judge Mathis, for financial gain. Mr. Acosta’s recitation of the 'facts' simply do not comport with what actually transpired during the incident, which occurred over one year ago. The report made to the LAPD by Mr. Acosta’s superior contains many demonstrable falsities, while also admitting that Judge Mathis feared for his own safety and the safety of his family due to the threats made by Mr. Acosta and his cohorts and the false imprisonment they imposed on Judge Mathis on his own private property."
"That the LAPD did not even investigate Mr. Acosta’s claims speaks to their lack of merit. Should Mr. Acosta pursue this lawsuit, we will not only vigorously defend the case, we will file cross claims against Mr. Acosta for his illegal conduct and repeated defamation of my client."
