A lucky lottery player in North Carolina is having a "good time" after scoring a massive jackpot win shortly after moving to the Tar Heel State.
Daniel Brose, of Advance, has only been a North Carolina resident for less than a month but he's already won big in the state lottery after landing a nice jackpot win, according to a release from the NC Education Lottery. He recently picked up his first Quick Pick ticket in the Cash 5 game from the Food Lion on U.S. 158 and ended up winning a $100,000 jackpot.
According to lottery officials, he has played a similar game in both Florida and Pennsylvania but had yet to win a prize such as the one he scored in North Carolina.
"I guess North Carolina is lucky," he said, adding that the win is "coming at a good time for us."
Brose claimed his prize at lottery headquarters on Monday (July 15), taking home a grand total of $71,502 after all required state and federal tax withholdings. The win is a good chunk of change for someone who recently moved across multiple states. In fact, he told lottery officials he plans to use his winnings to purchase more items for his new home.
