North Carolina is home to an endless stream of amazing restaurants, but sometimes it's the lesser-known establishments that can provide an unforgettable dining experience. Steakhouses are already a great place to treat yourself or to celebrate a special occasion, but one that gets commendations through local praise and customer ratings rather than by simply being a popular chain may be worth experiencing.
Cheapism searched the country for the best steakhouses you may not have heard about, excluding chain restaurants to compile a list of the best specialized eatery in each state that has flown under the radar, such as "hole-in-the-wall operations" and "romantic places with dazzling views."
According to the site, the best under-the-radar steakhouse in all of North Carolina is The Angus Barn, a Raleigh restaurant serving up quality cuts that was even recently named the overall best steakhouse in the state. The Angus Barn is located at 9401 Glenwood Avenue.
Here's what Cheapism had to say about the best under-the-radar restaurant to order a steak in the state:
"Opened in 1960 only to be destroyed by fire, the Angus Barn rose from the ashes in 1965 to offer 11 perfectly aged cuts. Try the 14-ounce certified Angus rib-eye. Dinners come with a choice of three sides and freshly baked break; homemade crackers are served at every table."
